Riverfest

Labor Day in the Cincy Region means one thing, Riverfest! Read on to see how you can send off summer with a bang!

Riverfest and the Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks

WEBN Fireworks at Riverfest

If you want to truly immerse yourself in Cincy Culture then you absolutely should check out some of the region’s signature events. On Labor Day weekend Riverfest, AKA Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks, is a perfect example of one of these events. The WEBN Fireworks, as the locals call it, is a festival mainstay in Cincy.

Originally the festival started in 1977 as a fireworks display to celebrate the 10th anniversary of local rock radio station, WEBN. It has since grown into an all day, both sides of the river, multiple city festival, and one of the largest firework displays in the midwest. Enjoy planned activities during the day, like live music and the Rubber Duck Regatta.

At 9pm the fireworks show by award winning pyro experts, Rozzi Family Fireworks starts. This internationally recognized local company has been around since 1895 and has built a reputation for quality and innovation. The fireworks show is always set to music that you can hear on, of course, WEBN (102.7FM).

Seeing the Fireworks Show

One of the best ways to see the show is to head to Cincinnati in Ohio or Covington or Newport in Kentucky, find a spot, and stake your claim. Any of those cities provides a great view of the Purple People Bridge where the fireworks will launch from. Sawyer Point and Yeatman's Cove is a great option in Cincinnati, as is Smale Park. If you would rather have a more elevated experience, there's options for that as well. Newport on the Levee has traditionally hosted a "Riverfest on the Levee" event with live music, family-friendly activities, and more.  Several other restaurants and bars at the Levee offer special events for the show. One of the best seats in the house to see the fireworks is actually on the river. BB Riverboats and Queen City Riverboats both offer a special cruise for the fireworks. Other party boats and boat rentals are available if you are with a group. There's also plenty of restaurants along the river that offer special, ticketed meals for Riverfest where you can see the show from private patios with amazing views.
